The Trofeo Achille and Cesare Bortolotti (Achille and Cesare Bortolotti Trophy) is back and, as for the previous edition, Atalanta will take on a German team: Eintracht Frankfurt, the reigning Europa League champions, will challenge Gasperini’s side for the silverware named after the two illustrious presidents who have their names carved in the history of Club. The match will be held at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo on the 9th of December (kick-off time at 20:00 CET). As per tradition, also the 25th edition of the Trophy honouring Achille and Cesare will be renowned for its strong international reach.

The latest edition saw the participation of Hertha Berlin, who were defeated 3-2 at the end of a thrilling match. Thrills are the common trait of such an eventful match that serves many purposes: first and foremost, paying the most fitting homage to two key figures so deeply enrooted in the legacy of Atalanta, while seizing the occasion offered by a joyful event permeated by the values of sportsmanship and friendship, and then cementing the long-lasting sympathy that historically bonds the two fanbases.

Strong of their great footballing heritage and prestige, crowned champions of the latest UEFA Europa League after defeating Rangers in the final in Seville and currently playing in the UEFA Champions League, Eintracht Frankfurt (whose palmares comprises another UEFA Cup, 1 domestic title and 5 German Cups), will partake in the Trofeo Bortolotti for their second time, following the 2016 edition which saw the German team victorious after the penalty shoot-out (following the 2-2 after full time with Papu Gomez and Rafael Toloi scoring in between Meier’s brace for Eintracht). This match also marked the debut of Gian Piero Gasperini at the helm of Atalanta a few weeks after his arrival on the bench of the Club.

This season, after a six years span, a new, ever-engaging re-match awaits us: the ball is set to roll again on the 9th of December at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
