The Bundesliga giants fought hard and got their reward as they secured a 4-2 win against Diego Simeone’s men.

Goals from Julian Brandt, Ian Maatsen, Niclas Fullkryg and former United loanee Marcel Sabitzer were enough to secure the win for Dortmund and ensure they advance to the semi-final of the continental competition.

Sancho started on the right-side of a 4-2-3-1 formation, in an attacking quartet also consisting of Julian Brandt who was deployed behind the striker and Karim Adeyemi on the other flank. Fullkrug was tasked with leading the line for Dortmund.

During the time he was on the pitch, Sancho had 59 touches of the ball to his name.

The 24-year-old successfully found his teammates with 33 of the 38 passes he attempted, managing an impressive pass accuracy of 87%. Two of his passes were key passes.

He tried to deliver one cross and to ping one long ball – Sancho found his intended target on both occasions.

The England international did not register any shot nor did he test Jan Oblak in the Atletico Madrid net.

Sancho tried to embark on eight duels but came out on top just twice. Defensively, he was mostly outdone by the Spanish giants.

The United loanee only won three of the 10 duels he delved into. He was not required to contest any challenge aerially.

Sancho also put in one tackle.

It was a triumphant evening for Sancho and his teammates in front of their home fans, who were in full voice during the entire duration of the proceedings.

The club’s next assignment is newly-crowned Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen, who remain unbeaten across all competitions.
