MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup continues with Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti facing each other in Group D on Thursday at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas.

This will be the second chapter of this Caribbean encounter in the Gold Cup. Haiti claimed a 2-nil victory in the previous meeting at the 2013 edition.

Haiti will seek to bounce back after a 1-nil loss to Saudi Arabia. Goalkeeper Johny Placide stood out with three crucial saves to keep the difference on the scoreboard to a minimum.

Trinidad and Tobago will look to recover from a multi-goal defeat to the United States. Tyrese Spicer and Nathaniel James recorded the two shots on target for the Soca Warriors in that match.

All-Time series Haiti v. Trinidad & Tobago –

This will be just the second-ever Gold Cup meeting between these two Caribbean sides. Their only previous clash came on July 12, 2013, in Group B action at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where Haiti claimed a 2-0 win with a brace from Jean-Eudes Maurice (16’, 53’), who remains Haiti’s top scorer against Trinidad & Tobago in Gold Cup play.

Their most recent encounter in any competition came in the 2017 Caribbean Cup Playoffs, a thrilling 4-3 victory for Haiti on January 8 in Couva. Derrick Etienne (20’), Kervens Belfort (39’, 111’), and Andrew Jean-Baptiste (117’) scored for the Haitians, while Shahdon Winchester struck a hat-trick (1’, 25’, 113’) for the Soca Warriors.

The highest-scoring win for Haiti in this rivalry came on November 28, 1971, in the Concacaf Championship held in Port of Spain. Despite going down 1-0 early, Haiti stormed back to win 6-1 with goals from Pierre Bayonne (40’, 81’), Emmanuel Sanon (43’), Leintz Domingue (44’), and Claude Barthelemy (57’), plus an own goal from Ramon Moraldo.

Trinidad & Tobago’s biggest victory over Haiti was a 6-1 win in the 1999 Caribbean Cup, also in Port of Spain. The Soca Warriors saw goals from Arnold Dwarika (19’), Angus Eve, Marvin Andrews (56’), Mickey Trotman (56’), Stokely Mason (86’), and Stern John (89’), while Wilson Chevalier scored Haiti’s lone goal (53’).
