Trent Alexander-Arnold says he cannot wait to play alongside some of the world’s best players as he was unveiled as Real Madrid’s star summer signing.

The former Liverpool defender completed his move to the Spanish capital ahead of the Club World Cup, with Madrid paying a £10m fee in order for the England International to join up ahead of the tournament.

Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool departure has divided opinion across Merseyside, with the full back booed by a section of supporters during the draw with Arsenal a couple of months ago – once he had announced his intentions to move on.

And speaking at today’s unveiling, Alexander-Arnold told members of the Real Madrid hierarchy and family of his excitement at his ‘dream’ move.

Speaking in fluent Spanish, he said: “Thank you Florentino Perez for this opportunity. It’s a dream come true.

“I am excited to play alongside the best players in the world. “I can’t wait to show Real Madrid fans what I can do on the pitch.

“Signing for Real Madrid does not happen everyday. It’s a dream come true.”

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez added: “Today is a very special day for Madridistas. We signed a legend who won everything. Today, he joins our family.

“Trent, you could have joined any club in the world but chose Real Madrid. We will never forget this gesture.

“We have a great relationship with Liverpool. Today, Trent’s dream has come true. You have chosen to play for Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world.”
