A fresh update on the efforts of La Liga giants Real Madrid to land Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool has on Friday been forthcoming online.

The name of defender Alexander-Arnold has of course long proven a prominent one in the Spanish media headlines.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the right-back has been identified as a prime summer transfer target on the part of Real Madrid.

Ahead of the expiration of his contract with Liverpool in the summer, the 26-year-old has been earmarked as the ideal long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Alexander-Arnold, for his part, is seen as keen on the move, a call which has left those of a Liverpool persuasion less than impressed.

And if the latest word stemming from the press on Friday is anything to go by, then the transfer, at the Santiago Bernabéu at least, is now considered essentially a formality.

As per a report from The Athletic:

‘Liverpool did not want to let him go in January but the Real Madrid board’s message to Ancelotti since the start of March has been that the England international, whose contract expires in the summer, will be a Madrid player next season.’
