Trent Alexander-Arnold out for 'weeks' with knee injury | OneFootball

Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss Liverpool's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Fulham with a knee injury.

The Reds' vice-captain suffered the issue in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Arsenal on Sunday and is set to miss 'a few weeks' of action, according to assistant manager Pep Lijnders.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday, Lijnders revealed: "First of all, some not-that-good news, Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game.

"So he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover. He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks, so let's see after that.

"He will get some rest and then hopefully he can come back to where he was. Because this guy was decisive in all the games and was the one who created constantly for us from deep and gave the team a high level of flexibility. We will really miss him."

Following the game against Fulham at Anfield, the Reds have an 11-day break before resuming Premier League action against Bournemouth on 21 January.

After that comes the second-leg of the Carabao Cup semi away at Fulham (24 January) and the FA Cup fourth round tie against either Norwich or Bristol Rovers on 27 January.

Liverpool finish the month with a home league clash against Chelsea on 31 January.

What part, if any, Alexander-Arnold plays in the remaining January fixtures remains to be seen.
