Liverpool finally got their sweet revenge against Real Madrid as they smashed them 2-0 at home in the Champions League. Arne Slot’s side are now preparing to host Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League this weekend.

The Reds are sitting atop the points table with eight points off their arch rivals City. A win on Sunday will give them a massive lead in the league title. Hence, Liverpool will give their all to get a good result and give no chance to opponents to catch up.

Defence

What’s better than saving a penalty kick from Kylian Mbappe when your team needs you the most? Caoimhin Kelleher is bossing with the gloves and he should be ready for another show. Conor Bradley suffered a blow but the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold will ease things out at the right-back spot.

Ibrahima Konate also received a blow and might be not available. In his absence, Joe Gomez is likely to form the heart of the defence with Virgil van Dijk. Left-back Andy Robertson will also keep his spot but he needs to be careful while making a challenge in the penalty box.

Midfield

Alexis Mac Allister got the nod ahead of Dominik Szoboszlai and the Argentine completely justified the call with his excellent goal. He should be continued in the lineup alongside Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch in the middle of the park.

Attack

Though Mohamed Salah missed the penalty, he has the tendency to step up on big occasions. He will take care of the right flank with Luis Diaz providing his high work rate on the other side of the pitch.

Darwin Nunez didn’t provide any end product but was instrumental in creating chances. He will be a key man once again in the offensive line.

Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas, Federico Chiesa and Alisson Becker are also confirmed absentees for Liverpool.
