Stade Rennais have signed experienced former Chelsea and Man U midfielder Nemanja Matic for two seasons, while Monaco have bagged former Juve and Chelsea midfielder Denis Zaharia on a five-year deal.

A major boost for Stade Rennais' midfield! On Monday evening, the Breton club made their fifth recruit of the transfer window official with the signing of experienced midfielder Nemanja Matic on a two-season contract.

The 35-year-old Serbian international (48 caps) was at AS Roma, where he was a starter in the last Europa League final. With 587 professional appearances to his name, the tall defensive midfielder (1.94m) is a familiar name to European football followers, having played at the highest level for several years with Chelsea, Benfica and Manchester United.

With Ligue 1 Uber Eats, he'll be discovering a new league, and he's already full of enthusiasm: "I feel welcome here. I've been made very welcome. The project I was offered appealed to me right from the start. I know there are some talented players in the squad and I can't wait to get started.

Denis Zakaria reunites with Adi Hütter

At almost the same time, AS Monaco also added a well-known midfielder to their squad. After spells at Juventus and Chelsea (on loan for a season), Denis Zakaria has left Piedmont for the Rock, where he has signed a five-year contract.

Aged 26, Zakaria is a physical midfielder who is at ease both recovering the ball and passing it. He is a key member of the Swiss national team, where he already has 49 caps (3 goals, 4 assists) and with whom he has taken part in two Euros (2016, 2020) and two World Cups (2018, 2022).

At Monaco, he will be reunited with coach Adi Hütter, with whom he worked as a youngster at Young Boys Bern and then Borussia Monchengladbach, and his compatriot Breel Embolo, whom he also met at the German club.
