Transfer overview

It's been a frantic few weeks on the transfer market in recent weeks. Rumours are flying around - many of which prove to have no substance, but many of which have become reality. You can easily lose the thread of what actually happened. A total of 20 players have joined or left our Red Bulls in the current transfer period. We have assembled an overview to help you keep track of it all.

NEW SIGNINGS:

  • Kamil Piatkowski: We secured the services of the Polish youngster from Rakow Czestochowa in the winter before he took the honour of best young player in the 2020/21 Ekstraklasa. The central defender is known as a hardman, who enjoys doing combat sports with his friends. With his holiday after Euro 2020 close to finishing, he is due to arrive in Salzburg soon, and we can hardly wait!
  • Nicolas Capaldo: Our Gaucho provided a taste of what he is capable of in our pre-season friendly matches. Nico will battle until he drops and always wants to press forward. He was already known for that for Boca Juniors, where he was a firm fan favourite.
  • Bernardo: He was delighted to get the chance to return to Salzburg in January. An injury blow soon followed. Having made his loan into a permanent deal running until 2024, our Brazilian is now looking to really make his mark in his second spell.
  • Philipp Köhn (returning from loan): After a year as a first-choice goalkeeper in Switzerland, Philipp feels more than ready now to take on the challenge in Salzburg. He played the full 90 minutes of our friendly against Olympiakos and kept a clean sheet.
  • Kilian Ludewig (returning from loan): Kilian is returning to our squad after a loan and an injury. His dynamism is a great asset for the right side of our defence, despite the fact Rasmus Kristensen is the first-choice pick there.
  • Jerome Onguene (returning from loan): You know what you are getting with Jerry - a physical presence, great heart and aerial strength. That didn't change during his intermezzo in Genoa. He has a decent claim to filling one of the two central defensive spots next season.
  • Junior Adamu (returning from loan): One to watch! Junior was hunting for goals with FC Liefering in the autumn before moving to St. Gallen and returning to Salzburg as an attacking hopeful.

transfers out:

  • Patson Daka: We will miss him. As a person above all. Our jovial striker is now a Leicester player. With his youth and speed, the Zambian could achieve something great there.
  • Enock Mwepu: The same applies to his mate Enock, who will be a couple of hours away on the south coast with Brighton. Playing in the Premier League was his dream. It was a great pleasure to see him make it from our club.
  • Andre Ramalho: Andre had to choose between another adventure in a new league or staying in Salzburg until retirement. It wasn't an easy decision, but he opted for the former. He will now be part of a PSV Eindhoven side looking to knock Ajax off their perch. We wish him lots of luck!
  • Peter Pokorny: In a surprise deal, Peter ended up with Real Sociedad instead of returning to Salzburg. That's no bad step for the Slovakian U21 captain.
  • Majeed Ashimeru: It was temporary, and now it is permanent. Majeed is officially playing in the Belgian capital  now.  Anderlecht will seek to break Club Brugge's dominance. At 23 years old he is aged perfectly for the challenge.
  • Cican Stankovic: It was a tough year but now the 28-year-old has a new opportunity in Greece, at big-name side AEK Athens no less.
  • Masaya Okugawa: After a good half year, Masaya decided to stay in the German Bundesliga. He helped Bielefeld to stay up, and next year will be aiming for the same achievement.
  • David Affengruber: David has swapped Salzburg's fortress for Graz's clock tower. It's a new start for David after eight years in Salzburg. He looks an ideal man to step into David Nemeth's shoes at Sturm.
  • Patrick Farkas: Everywhere he's been, Farki has been a real fan favourite. That will surely be the case in Lucerne too, where he has signed a two-year contract after spending four years in our colours.
  • Samuel Tetteh: After a number of loans, he decided against returning to Salzburg and has booked a ticket for Adanaspor in Turkey. It's a city known for its delicious fish dishes and they have plenty of players with a past in Austrian football.
  • Amar Dedic (loan): Our Bosnian youth international is off to WAC, where several other players have made the final developmental step before breaking through in Salzburg.
  • Ousmane Diakite (loan): After a horrible injury close to two years ago, his career is slowly getting into gear again. He will hopefully get the same kind of boost at St. Gallen as Junior did in the past six months.
  • Jasper van der Werff (loan): After Basel comes Paderborn. The young defender will try to stake his claim for a place in Jaissle's XI in the second German Bundesliga.
