Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur to battle host of clubs for Stade Reims striker Hugo Ekitike

According to ChronicleLive, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to battle a host of clubs for the services of Stade Reims striker Hugo Ekitike. He is one of the rising talents in Ligue 1 and has attracted a lot of attention because of his solid displays.

Ekitike is a transfer target for several clubs, including the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, West Ham United and Newcastle United. His current valuation stands at £25million, which may seem a bit pricey for now but given his trajectory of development, it may not be the most exorbitant price that could be quoted.

Newcastle were in contact with Reims this week over the subject of the asking price. The Magpies have also been scouting the 19-year-old this season and have been advised to make a move soon before the ship would sail away.

Hugo Ekitike has interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, Newcastle, West Ham and PSG.

Who is Hugo Ekitike?

Primarily a centre-forward, the Frenchman can also play on the left wing when needed, which is always a bonus to have. He has played 19 matches this season across all competitions and has scored eight goals alongside three assists.

The Ligue 1 prodigy is known for his immense work rate as an attacker, which could make him a perfect target for Antonio Conte. That does not mean that his offensive attributes are any worse since he has an eye for goal, plus his dribbling skills alongside his technical qualities makes him an all-round package.

We could use some additions in our attack, considering the lack of options in the frontline. Harry Kane is our only striking option which means that we have an environment where the Reims youngster could flourish as an understudy.

Could Tottenham beat off competitors and get Hugo Ekitike?

That’s not all, as, with Conte at the helm, the French star could also have a great coach who could help him develop into a fine prospect in the future. Moreover, the lack of depth in attack means that the striker can earn minutes at N17, which indicates how his progression may not be affected if he leaves to join us.

Our main attackers are close to entering the twilight of their careers, so we should look at prospects who can support them at the moment while taking over their time when the time is right. The Italian boss does need a striker this month anyway, making the prospect of signing the Ligue 1 starlet even better.

However, with all these interested parties and the Toons already in contact with the French club, Fabio Paratici will have some heavy lifting to do before we can get the French forward at the club.
