Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United yet to make an approach for Inter Milan ace Christian Eriksen

According to the reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United are yet to make an approach for Inter Milan star Christian Eriksen.

The Nerazzurri signed Eriksen from Tottenham in January 2020. However, the Danish international has struggled to carve out a place in Antonio Conte’s squad. Inter have confirmed that the midfielder will be sold this month.

While the likes of Tottenham and Leicester City are keen on the player, United’s interest is less marked so. With just days left in the window, us not making a move could indicate a disinterest in the player.

Inter are open to a loan deal but will demand that the club involved pay Eriksen’s wages in full. Amounting to around €4million after-tax, the Italians demand placed a significant financial constraint for interested parties.

United meanwhile are understood to be willing to pay just £1.3m for the player’s services.

At 28, Eriksen should be in the prime of his career. Instead, he looks a shadow of the player he was at Tottenham and appears to have regressed.

While a fresh start could rekindle his old flame, that does not appear to be on the horizon at Old Trafford.

Untied already have a number of options in midfield. Paul Pogba is hitting top form while Donny van de Beek cannot even get a look in.

It makes no sense for us to bring in Eriksen on a temporary basis, especially in an area of the pitch that is loaded with options. As far as a permanent solution is concerned, we are better off looking elsewhere.
