Transfer News: Manchester United in four-way battle for Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin

According to The Sun (h/t Eurosport), Manchester United are set to fight it out with their Premier League rivals for the signature of Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The 24-year-old is amongst the best young strikers in the league. He has really come into his own as a dependable striker in recent years and continues to improve.

Calvert-Lewin has so far made 176 appearances for Everton, scoring 56 goals and assisting 16 more. He averages a game this season but continues to struggle with injuries.

While Manchester United and Edinson Cavani are monsters up front, neither of them are long term options nor getting any younger. With Anthony Martial also flattering to impress, bringing in a striker who can lead the line for years to come will become a necessity in the coming windows.

In Calvert-Lewin, United have just that man. Not only is the 24-year-old brilliant in the air and excellent in hold up play, but also technically impressive. More so, at 24 he still has the best years of his career ahead of him.

Valued at £50million, the Toffees star is well worth the risk. However United will also have to contend with competition from Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United.

United have a number of excellent options out on the wing in Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood. Bringing in Calvert-Lewin would help create a strike force that can battle against different systems with ease.

The towering striker’s physical stature will also help United take up a more direct stance.

United need a striker and there are few better than Calvert-Lewin who fir the profile. Already familiar with the Premier League, he will fit in well at Old Trafford.

The striker also appears to have made an impression on former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian now in charge of Real Madrid has been linked with the 24-year-old’s services.
