We are fast approaching the end of the January transfer window and things could soon be heating up. While Arsenal are yet to sign a player due to FFP worries, it seems the Gunners may strike a deal for a long-term target. According to reports in Spain, Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is very close to agreeing a move to the Emirates Stadium, although he is much more likely to make it official this summer.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have been one of the busier clubs around and they may not be done yet. Antonio Nusa of Club Brugge is a target and more talks have reportedly been held, although he too will likely officially make the move this summer.

Brentford make clear decision for final week of January window

Brentford will only consider long-term targets this month, after fixing their priority position of left-back by loaning Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.

Bees manager Thomas Frank made it clear in the lead up to the January window that a left-back was their priority, to cover for injuries to Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey.

Reguilon started the season at Manchester United but they ended his loan early.

Karim Benzema: Manchester United latest

Speaking to Betfred, former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has told the club to make a move for Karim Benzema.

"I would sign him if it was only for a training session," he said.

"I was very surprised when he left Real Madrid in the summer, but I understand why it happened. That money he’s earning in Saudi Arabia is generational wealth. It’s for his kids and his kids’ kids. When you’re at that age in your career and you’ve already won four La Liga titles, five Champions League trophies and the Ballon d’Or, I can understand why he went to Saudi.

“Could he do it in the Premier League at his age? 100% considering the way he looks after himself. If Manchester United have the opportunity to sign him, then they should definitely try and make that happen.”

West Ham closing in on Phillips deal as Man City transfer talks continue

West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips on loan until the end of the season, in what would be a major coup for David Moyes.

Phillips is set to leave the treble-winners this month as he searches for regular playing time ahead of England’s European Championship bid this summer and had been a target for the likes of Newcastle, Barcelona and Juventus.

Talks between the two clubs are ongoing and West Ham are reluctant to pay a hefty loan fee, with City reportedly demanding as much as £7million for what will effectively be a three-and-a-half month switch. A compromise is expected to be reached, however, with the player open to the move and West Ham increasingly confident of reaching an agreement this week.

Though it seems West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Kalvin Phillips, their attempts to bring a striker into the club look slightly more complicated.

According to Football Insider, the fact that Chelsea are ready to demand as much as £50m for Armando Broja make it unlikely he will join.
