Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner expressed his frustration at losing defender Trevoh Chalobah.
The Eagles signed the Chelsea defender on a season-long loan deal back in August, with Chalobah going on to make 14 appearances for the club across all competitions after he was frozen out of the first-team picture at Stamford Bridge.
Chalobah was starting to establish himself as a key player under Glasner and had even scored three goals during his brief spell at Selhurst Park.
Chelsea then triggered a clause in the contract to recall their academy graduate after injuries to Blues defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.

Martin Zubimendi to Arsenal does not look to be a foregone conclusion just yet.
Shock news first emerged on Tuesday that the Gunners will formally trigger a £51m release clause to reunite the midfielder with ex-Real Sociedad and current Spain team-mate Mikel Merino at the end of the season.
Liverpool tried hard to sign Zubimendi over the summer and looked to have a deal agreed, only to be snubbed as he ultimately opted to remain at Anoeta.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Arsenal are indeed pushing to sign the 25-year-old in the summer.
However, he says that Bayern Munich are also keeping a close eye on the situation still along with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool.

Trevoh Chalobah has sent a touching farewell message to Crystal Palace fans after being recalled by Chelsea.
One of the January transfer window’s most confusing sagas so far was finally settled on Wednesday as the Blues confirmed that they had triggered their option to recall Chalobah early from his season-long loan spell at Selhurst Park.
“Chelsea has recalled defender Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Premier League side Crystal Palace,” Chelsea said in a statement.
“The Academy graduate joined the Eagles on loan in August, featured 14 times under Oliver Glasner and scored three goals.
“Chalobah, who has made 80 appearances for the Blues, returns to Stamford Bridge with immediate effect and will join up with Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad. He will wear the No.23 shirt.”

Arsenal will have to pay £60m if they want to sign Bryan Mbeumo this month, reports claim.
The Gunners have supposedly been eyeing a move for Brentford’s talisman in January as they look to solve their well-documented attacking problems.
Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle have also been linked with Mbeumo, who has scored 13 Premier League goals so far this season.
GiveMeSport report that Arsenal could have a window to jump ahead of their rivals in the race for the Cameroon international this month, but Brentford apparently will not budge on their £60m valuation, making a deal very difficult.
