The start of the new Premier League season is just around the corner now and all of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham could be busy in the summer transfer market. Mikel Arteta says Jurrien Timber is “like a new signing” for Arsenal.
Timber missed virtually all of his first season at Emirates Stadium after suffering a serious knee injury on the opening day of the campaign following his £38m move to Ajax.
Speaking after Arsenal beat Manchester United 2-1 in a pre-season friendly in Los Angles, Arteta said: “He’s like a new signing for us and a big addition to the team.
Now he’s getting the rhythm because obviously he’s missed a lot of football in the last year or so.
“We’ve asked him to play in a different position than we had in mind due to the numbers and the players we have at the moment, but I’m really happy.
“Just look at him, his pressing, his leadership, his composure.”

Ederson says no decision has been made about his Manchester City future amid interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
City boss Pep Guardiola wants Ederson to stay but has said the 30-year-old “has to decide” what he wants to do.
Speaking after City’s 3-2 defeat by AC Milan in New York overnight, Ederson said: “There isn’t a decision yet.
“To hear Pep saying that was very gratifying. It’s now my eighth season with him living many good moments, also some bad ones. He’s a guy who is easy to work with, he’s a football genius and everyone knows that. So it’s really good to hear that from him.
“I’m happy here, having a good moment with my team-mates, I’m enjoying as well to get my fitness back on track. I’m very calm, whatever happens is in God’s hands and he knows the right way to go. Whatever he gives me I’ll be happy with.”
