Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United are all still striving to complete some headline deals as we approach the finishing straight of the January transfer window. Arsenal have been rather quiet this month, but it is now said that they will rival Manchester United for the signing of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt. Arsenal and Chelsea are both on alert over Karim Benzema, while the Gunners could move for Benjamin Sesko, who has a £43million release clause.

Chelsea have learned how much they will have to pay to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, with wages potentially a stumbling block over Benzema. Tottenham have already sealed deals for Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin this month and are now reported to be in negotiations with Club Brugge over Antonio Nusa, while Ivan Perisic is heading back to Hajduk Split. However, a move for Conor Gallagher is no longer considered possible.

Manchester United continue to be linked with a blockbuster move for Vinicius Jr at Real Madrid as well as Benfica's Joao Neves, with Anthony Martial now rumoured to be training alone. West Ham have missed out on a loan deal for Emile Smith Rowe and Liverpool are said to be eying the likes of Goncalo Inacio and Georgiy Sudakov. Arsenal and Man United keen on Zirkzee

Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.

However, while the forward had a €40m release clause, it has been confirmed that is only available for former club Bayern Munich.

"We wouldn't answer calls anyway," Bologna director Marco Di Vaio told La Gazzetta dello Sport last month. "[Zirkzee] is unlike anyone else, a unique piece.

Arsenal set to keep Smith Rowe

Arsenal have no plans to loan Emile Smith Rowe to West Ham and the midfielder is determined to fight for his place.

The Hammers are in the market for attacking reinforcements and have expressed an interest in Smith Rowe.

The 23-year-old has battled injury problems over the past 18 months and has started just one Premier League game this season.

Arsenal, however, have no interest in loaning out Smith Rowe and he is also focused on winning back his place in the Gunners team.

“I’m really happy with Emile,” said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on Friday. “He’s in the right trajectory. Now, he’s settled, he’s training really well and you know I'm not going to talk about individual situations.

“Emile is Emile. We know he’s got incredible qualities and we're really happy to have him. What he needs now is chances to put all the desire and quality that he has on the pitch. In order to do that we have to give him minutes.”
