Arsenal begin the week looking to finally seal a deal to sign Riccardo Calafiori after protracted talks over a £42million move, and are also being linked with Mikel Merino. The Gunners are desperate to add a new striker and continue to be linked with Viktor Gyokeres, but Joao Felix is a new name in the mix. English goalkeeper Tommy Setford is set to join from Ajax.

Talking of strikers, Chelsea are reportedly weighing up an audacious move for Ollie Watkins. The Aston Villa talisman has jumped to the head of the queue of possible new forwards, and the Blues hope to bring his price down by offering Conor Gallagher in part exchange. Aaron Anselmino and Caleb Wiley are in talks to join.

Manchester United on Sunday confirmed the signing of Joshua Zirkzee and hope to soon add Matthijs de Ligt to their ranks. A bid for Leny Yoro has been accepted, but the Lille youngster is taking some convincing. Tottenham have been tipped to step up attempts to sign Eberechi Eze, and have been linked with young stars Desire Doue, Bradley Locko and Jonathan David. Chelsea are reportedly becoming frustrated with Trevoh Chalobah’s demands if he is to be sold.

TeamTALK name Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Crystal Palace as clubs which have all been rejected by the centre-back, who Chelsea want to cash in on this summer.

Chalobah is said to be waiting for the perfect move and is even happy to remain a fringe player at Stamford Bridge if it doesn’t arrive.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Manchester United striker has given the green light to move to Ligue 1 after being linked with Napoli and Lazio.

Marseille will pay £26.7m for Greenwood with bonuses and a sell-on clause inserted into the deal.

Arsenal attempt to knock down Riccardo Calafiori price tag

Arsenal are hoping to lower Riccardo Calafiori’s transfer fee as negotiations with Bologna continue.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claims the Gunners want to use Calafiori’s desire to move to north London as leverage to reduce his club’s demands, which stand at £42m plus bonuses.

Arsenal are happy to reach the £42m figure by adding bonuses onto a lower initial transfer fee, but Bologna reportedly want that number guaranteed - and then some.

It is reported that the Serie A side consider themselves in a position of strength given Calafiori’s contract runs for another three years.
