Things had gone quiet on the Mateo Kovacic front of late after Chelsea granted Manchester City permission to speak to the midfielder.
Fabrizio Romano, however, has provided an update.
The transfer insider claims a move is now close.
Alexis Sanchez left Arsenal under a cloud and hasn’t really hit the same heights since.
While the Gunners have moved on, it seems Sanchez hasn’t.
According to La Tercera, Sanchez called former teammate Mikel Arteta - now in charge of Arsenal of course - to ask for a return.
Former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere believes Kai Havertz will be a big success for the club.
The Gunners want to sign the Chelsea striker, who is valued at £70m by the Blues and has agreed personal terms already for a move across the capital.
Some have questioned why Mikel Arteta is so keen on Havertz, given his fairly mediocre goal record for Chelsea, but Aliadiere is confident he’ll be a hit if the deal comes off.
“When you look at the way that Arsenal are playing, I’m not sure Arteta is looking for a typical striker who’s just focused on scoring goals,” Aliadiere told FourFourTwo.
“From the look of it, Gabriel Jesus and the way that the boys have been playing this season, you want someone who is involved in the play, can play in midfield rather than a Haaland-type striker who will just stay up front and get goals.
"I think Havertz will be a great addition to the squad. I believe that the reason we fell short at the end of last season is that we didn’t have enough depth in the squad.”
Chelsea want to make major progress in negotiations for Moises Caicedo this week.
Brighton reportedly want £100m for the Ecuadorian midfielder having rejected an offer of £60m from the Blues.
Source have informed Standard Sport that Caicedo wants to move to a bigger club and is wanted by Chelsea, while Arsenal are focusing on a move for Declan Rice.
Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has revealed that the concept of him leaving on loan this summer is “impossible”.
Having asserted himself in the first-team after a January move to Stamford Bridge, Madueke wants a big role under new boss Mauricio Pochettino
“A loan spell would be impossible for both parties”, he told Standard Sport.
“I’ve been brought in and there’s a plan for me at the club. I finished the season well, so next season is just about kicking on in the team and showing everyone the real me.”
