Sheffield United are close to announcing the signing of Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. The 21-year-old has chosen to join the Blades after snubbing Leeds United, per Football Insider.

According to Dom Smith, United will pay a loan fee in excess of £1 million and pay 100% of Rak-Sakyi’s wages. It is also thought that the loan deal will include a recall option in case Palace want to terminate the loan in January.

Rak-Sakyi is a very exciting winger who can play on either wing and cut inside or go on the outside because he is strong with both feet. A few years ago, when he was a teenager, he was being touted as the Wilfried Zaha replacement, that’s how highly he is rated at Crystal Palace.

Rak-Sakyi’s only loan spell came in the 2022/23 campaign where he set League One alight for Charlton Athletic having notched 15 goals and eight assists. His electric performances earned him the supporters Player of The Year award.

Unfortunately his career momentum was hindered last season when he suffered a hamstring injury. He has featured in Crystal Palace’s early pre-season games where he impressed.

Will Osula joins Newcastle United

On Thursday afternoon the Blades confirmed that Will Osula has left the club to join Newcastle United. Speaking to the club’s official website about the young Dane’s departure Chris Wilder said, “this is a fantastic opportunity for Will and on behalf of the coaching staff, I wish him well. These situations are difficult and we have discussed it a number of times before, we are a club in a position that has to be careful that we don’t stifle opportunities for young players. Also, it is important that we get the best possible price – and protect ourselves in the future – for players that we help develop.”

Osula made 21 appearances last season adding three FA Cup goals to his name. But, he did fail to score a single league goal for the Blades during his two year stint in the first team.
