Paris Saint-Germain will need to explore the free agent market as sporting advisor Luis Campos maneuvers Financial Fair Play while improving the squad.

Over the last few weeks, there’s been discussion about whether Campos would go after a familiar name to PSG supporters, Adrien Rabiot. The 27-year-old midfielder’s contract with Juventus expires and the Serie A side appears to be planning for his possible exit.

Calciomercato reported on Wednesday, citing sources, that Rabiot’s situation is complicated, which is why Juventus continue to evaluate the status of Davide Frattesi, who Sassuolo value at least €30 million.

Rabiot didn’t leave on the best of terms, but he’s a PSG youth product and Paris is his hometown. Nonetheless, if Campos were to pursue Rabiot, he might likely have to take the temperature of the supporters to see if the soon-to-be free agent will be welcomed back.

The midfielder has matured enough during his time in Turin that France manager Didier Deschamps welcomed Rabiot back into the national team after his behavior to rule himself out for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Rabiot was on the 2022 edition last year in Qatar after earning another chance.

A Rabiot isn’t being reported in the media, but there’s plenty of speculation from pundits about him possibly becoming a free agent again in June.
