Anthony Gordon keen on Tottenham Hotspur switch but won’t force his way out of Everton

Tottenham have identified Everton starlet Anthony Gordon as a transfer target in recent days and reportedly, the 21-year-old would be keen on making a switch to North London should the opportunity present itself.

According to football.london, the prospect of Champions League football and playing under Antonio Conte does interest Gordon. However, the winger won’t force his way out of his boyhood club.

Gordon joined the Everton academy when he was only 11. With Richarlison closing in on a move to Spurs, backlash from Everton fans is expected should they lose Gordon too.

The England U21 international doesn’t want to risk ruining his relationship with the Everton faithful, hence he won’t be forcing the club into a corner to let him leave.

That is likely to play a hindrance to Tottenham’s hopes of completing a double deal but Richarlison seems to be the priority here, so the North Londoners wouldn’t be minding as much and thus, will be very satisfied to get only Richarlison.

Gordon has amassed 60 appearances for Everton since being promoted to the senior team and is viewed as one for the future. In 35 Premier League appearances last term, he had 4 goals and two assists.

Hindrance, but Spurs can’t dwell on it

It is peculiar that Spurs are keen to sign a young winger. Steven Bergwijn is close to sealing a move to Ajax Amsterdam so there would be an opening, but the Lilywhites only got in Dejan Kulusevski and Bryan Gil in the past 12 months.

With Spurs already having a potent front-three in Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, there seems to be little room for Gordon to shine at the moment.
