Milan Skriniar in talks with Tottenham Hotspur

According to a report from Tuttosport (h/t Mirror), Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, who is a target for Manchester United, is in talks over a move to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The 25-year-old Skriniar has grown into one of the most reliable defenders in Europe since joining Inter from Serie A rivals Sampdoria in 2017.

A permanent fixture at the back, the Slovakian featured 32 times in the Serie A in 2019/20, as the Nerazzurri finished second in the table. In total, he has featured 41 times in all competitions so far, contributing with two assists.

The Slovakian international has been linked with a move to Manchester United for quite some time now. While our defence improved over the course of the 2019/20 season, concerns remain over the lack of a reliable partner for captain Harry Maguire. (h/t Mirror)

Victor Lindelof hasn’t been able to fully convince despite having been at the club for three years now. Eric Bailly continues to be plagued with injury after injury, while Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling are all out of favour.

So, adding another new centre-back, in the form of Skriniar, this summer would have been a great move for the club. However, the 25-year-old is reportedly in talks with our rivals Tottenham over the possibility of a transfer. (h/t Mirror)

Skriniar still has three years left on his current contract with Inter, having penned a new deal just last year. However, manager Antonio Conte is ready to cash in on him in the summer. (h/t Mirror)

If it is true that Inter are really looking to sell, we should be all over this. Skriniar is a top-class defender and would certainly boost our squad. The fact that we can offer Champions League football could play a role in luring away from Spurs.
