Transfer Latest – Plymouth Argyle set to sign Conor Hazard for six figure sum | OneFootball

Celtic’s 2020 Scottish Cup Final hero Conor Hazard is set to leave Celtic with Plymouth Argyle the likely destination for the Northern Ireland international goalkeeper who has not been in Celtic’s plans for the past few seasons. This transfer news is being reported by the reliable Scott Burns via Daily Record.

Newly promoted Championship side,  who play Hearts today in a pre-season friendly,  are preparing a six figure bid for Hazard which will give Celtic a tidy little windfall and get a fringe player out the door.   Hazard is just 25 years-old and has come through the ranks via the Celtic Academy, with nine years service as a Celt.  He was seen on match days assisting in Joe Hart’s warm-up but he was always fourth pick behind Ben Siegrist and Scott Bain.

With Brendan Rodgers likely to sign another keeper either in this transfer window or the next the chances of Hazard breaking into the Celtic side are pretty slim.  Much of his time at Celtic has been spent out on loan, most recently on Finland where he helped HJK Helsinki  to the title at the end of 2022 before returning to Celtic. Previously the Northern Ireland keeper had loan spells at Falkirk, Partick Thistle and  two at Dundee.

Conor Hazard’s finest moment playing for Celtic, and one that guarantees his place in the history books, was his outstanding performance in the penalty shoot out at Hampden in December 2020 when he got the better of former Celt Craig Gordon in the Hearts goal, to win the Scottish Cup for Celtic completing an incredible Quadruple Treble for the club.
