There has been some questionable transfers at Chelsea in recent years for sure, and there was one or two in the summer when the new ownership group first took charge at the club.

Since then they have bought in a number of recruitment experts to hopefully make sure they are making the right decisions and bringing in the right players. But the summer was a bit all over the place because Thomas Tuchel was in charge and he was having an influence on what players were signed, namely striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

His Chelsea career has turned out to be a complete nightmare and will now only end in one way, with him departing the club very soon, according to Fabrizio Romano, writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column the Daily Briefing.

There’s even been talk that he might still leave sooner than summer and go to a league like the MLS, where it’s still possible. But either way, Romano says he will leave Chelsea, justifying comments on why Chelsea need a striker.

“Chelsea will explore market for new striker, Aubameyang will leave and they only have Broja,” Romano said.

“Nkunku is not a number 9, he’s probably going to play behind the striker.”
