Wednesday may be hump day but we’re here to is liven things up with fresh slate of news and rumours from across the world of transfers.
Neymar is reportedly desperate to re-join Barcelona this summer after being told he can leave Paris Saint-Germain.
That’s according to a report in Catalan daily Sport, which suggests that the Brazil international is eyeing a move back to Camp Nou.
As is the way with the summer transfer rumour mill, that report almost directly contradicts one in AS yesterday which said that Neymar was happy in Paris after hearing that former Barça boss Luis Enrique is on the verge of being named the new Parisiens coach.
Sport maintain however, that Neymar will be leaving the French capital during this window.
If a move to Barça — which seems unlikely due to their ongoing financial difficulties — doesn’t come to fruition, then a switch to Chelsea or the Saudi Pro League could be on the cards.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Declan Rice continued on Tuesday with a second bid for the West Ham man but it seems that they are also casting their eye on Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.
Lavia impressed despite Saints’ relegation last season and the London Evening Standard have revealed that Mikel Arteta’s men will make a formal bid this week.
Napoli have reportedly written up a shortlist of replacement for Victor Osimhen should the Nigeria international leave this summer.
Gazzetta dello Sport say that Lille’s Jonathan David and Atalanta goalscorer Rasmus Højlund are at the top of their wishlist.
Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech is set to join Saudi side Al-Nassr this coming week. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who says that terms have been agreed between all parties and a formal announcement is just a few details away.
Paris Saint-Germain are desperate to get Gini Wijnaldum off their squad list this summer, according to Foot Mercato.
Wijnaldum spent last season on loan at Roma, who opted not to take up an option to make things permanent, and apparently has no future in the French capital.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani has seemingly at an end.
L’Équipe say that Los Blancos have decided against signing the Eintracht Frankfurt forward and will now put all their efforts into signing Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea will wrap up another summer signing this week with Nicolas Jackson flying in for a medical, according to Spanish outlet AS.
The Blues has agreed a fee with Villarreal for a player who was also of interest to Everton, AC Milan and an unnamed German club to his signature.
Angel Di Maria is on the verge of returning to Benfica, 13 years after he left the Portuguese club for Real Madrid.
Fabrizio Romano says that the Argentina international had been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia and MLS but is desperate for a second coming in Lisbon.
Despite becoming a Treble winner, Kalvin Phillips has endured a first season to forget at Manchester City.
The England international has had to make do with very limited playing time with Pep Guardiola eve, at one point, complaining about the former Leeds man’s weight.
Rumours have been heavily circulating that Phillips could be sold this summer with West Ham believed to be keen on his services.
But the 27-year-old has hit back at those suggestions in an interview with the BBC.
“My intention is to stay. We’ve just won the Treble, so there is no reason for me to leave. I cannot give it 12 months and say I am not playing, so I am going to leave.
“With many players at City, it can take quite a while to cement yourself into the team. I’m just going to go away for the off-season, enjoy myself, and then come back fighting.”
It was formally confirmed months ago but finally on Tuesday, Christoper Nkunku became a Chelsea player.
