The Red Devils are desperate to land a centre-forward this summer, with Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen said to be their leading targets. But deals for the Tottenham and Napoli strikers will be difficult to do, with Spurs set to dig their heels in over their record goalscorer, while Osimhen could be priced out of a move to Old Trafford.

But Ramos is set to be more attainable, even if Benfica will insist on his £105.6million release clause being paid in full. According to Record, the Portugal striker has grown tired of waiting for a pay-rise that he was promised last summer in the wake of Darwin Nunez’s move to Liverpool. United are aware of the 21-year-old’s irritation and could move to bring him to the Premier League in the early part of the summer.

United have also been linked with a swoop for Brighton’s young goalscorer Evan Ferguson. But The Sun says the teenager would prefer to stay with the Seagulls to continue his development, which would be music to Johnny Nic’s ears.

Osimhen is also a target for Chelsea, who are reported by Football Insider to be ready to pay £100million for the Nigeria hit-man. Which is around £30million short of Napoli’s valuation.

Plenty of whispers doing the rounds involving Newcastle this morning…

Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen his midfield this summer and James Ward-Prowse is high on his list of targets. Football Insider says Liverpool and Man Utd have also watched the England star, who is almost certain to leave Southampton should they be relegated. Saints expect to fetch around £40million for their skipper, who will still have three years remaining on his contract.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be considerably cheaper since his Liverpool deal is due to expire this summer with neither side intent on a renewal. The Daily Mail reckons Newcastle are among a trio of clubs including Aston Villa and Brighton who are keen on nabbing the ex-England midfielder as a free agent.

Finally, the Magpies are also being linked with a move for Kalvin Phillips. The Manchester City midfielder has been sporadically used since joining the champions from Leeds for around £43million last summer and The Sun says he could head to St James’ Park if they are willing to give City their money back.
