We’re going to kick-off with transfers that clubs are looking to prevent. According to the Mirror, Dele Alli will be offered a tasty pay increase to sign a new Tottenham Hotspur contract. The club want to fend off interest from Real Madrid and the two Manchester clubs.

The same goes for Raheem Sterling, as the Guardian report he is set to become one of Manchester City‘s highest paid players.

Liverpool could sign Naby Keïta this month after all. A deal worth up to €75m is agreed for the RB Leipzig midfielder in the summer but Bild report that a further €15m could be enough to see him join already. The 22-year-old would not be eligible for Champions League games, having already played in the competition this season.

Finally, Gerard Deulofeu could be on his way to Serie A leaders Napoli. The Spaniard performed well in Italy for AC Milan last season and is unhappy with his lack of playing time at Barcelona.

Fake News ?

Real Madrid are looking to sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool, reports Gianlucia Di Marzio. Yeah, and we want to win the lottery.

Having already sold Philippe Coutinho there’s no way Salah is allowed to leave Anfield, either now or next year.

Liverpool are being linked with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by Le10Sport. We’re not buying that either.

Fantasy football ?

French radio station Radio Montecarlo say talks have taken place between Real Madrid and people close to Eden Hazard. That’s more realistic than targeting Salah but we won’t see it happen in January.

Over in China, Guangzhou Evergrande have actually denied any interest in Aubameyang, instead preferring to focus on youth development. Yep, that’s right.

Have you heard of Kazuyoshi Miura? He’s 50 and has a birthday coming up. It’s 18 years since he retired from international football. Yet somehow, the Japanese is still going and has signed a new deal with J-League second division team Yokohama FC.
