Various reports indicate that Gareth Bale’s surprise return to Tottenham is drawing ever closer and he could finalise the move before the end of this week.

That isn’t the only transfer involving Real Madrid and Spurs, with Sergio Reguilón set to be unveiled later today on a long-term deal after the Londoners agreed a €35 million fee.

Ronald Koeman has offered Luis Suárez a shock olive branch for his Barcelona future, admitting if he stays ‘he will be in the squad’ but the preference remains to find a buyer for the Uruguayan.

Several reports in Italy and England also indicate that Cengiz Ünder is closing in on a move to Leicester City, who he will initially join on loan, albeit with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer.

Milan boss Stefano Pioli has admitted that talks are ongoing with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma over a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Everton have registered a late interest in signing Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori (who has been linked to Rennes as part of the move for Edouard Mendy), per the Times, but are also ready to offload several fringe players, including Fabian Delph and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

There appears no substance to the Téléfoot claim from France that a €40m bid from Arsenal for Houssem Aouar of Lyon is ‘imminent’, while there are also further non-updates in the Gunners’ ongoing Thomas Partey pursuit.

The same outlet also provoked a bemused Instagram response from Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan after it was reported that Paris Saint-Germain are working on a loan deal to bring him to the French capital.

Calciomercato claim that there is fresh interest in bringing Chris Smalling back to Italy – from Inter. They may have signed plenty of others from Old Trafford but have shown no interest in the centre-back.

Funniest rumour of the day 🤣

Why do people continue to persist with the Jadon Sancho-United nonsense? The latest update comes from Norwegian outlet Dagbladet who say that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has recently held discussions with the player.

He even told him he expects a transfer ‘will be completed soon’ and the Englishman has apparently expressed his eagerness to join.

This one could easily have been filed in the section above. Ridiculous.

Emiliano MartĂnez became the most expensive Argentine goalkeeper of all time when he completed a ÂŁ20m switch from Arsenal to Aston Villa.

Pervis Estupiñán joined Villarreal from Watford for a fee of €15m and put pen to paper on a surprisingly lengthy seven-year deal.

Borja Valero also completed an emotional return to the club where he played his best football – rejoining Fiorentina.
