The case of Alphonso Davies is getting complicated with each passing day as Real Madrid battle to sign him on a free transfer in the summer while Bayern Munich fight to tie him down to a new contract.

Reports over the past couple of weeks suggested that the 24-year-old Canadian international was close to signing a new contract and that the Bavarians were very optimistic about retaining their star left-back.

However, earlier today, reports in Spain suggested that the defender had taken a step towards joining Real Madrid in the summer.

Major development – Davies rejects contract offer

Now, according to journalist Rodra P, Alphonso Davies has rejected the latest contract offer made by Bayern Munich, potentially opening the doors for a transfer to Real Madrid next season.

BILD journalist Tobi Altschaffl also provides an update along the similar lines, stating that the most recent offer put by Bayern Munich is not to the satisfaction of Davies and his camp.

The Bavarian giants are believed to have a very good and ‘final’ offer for the left-back but it was still short of the player’s expectations by at least €8-10 million over the four-year contract period.

As such, there is still no agreement between the two parties and Davies’ agent will leave Munich tomorrow. The question now is whether Bayern Munich are prepared to improve on their ‘final’ offer before he departs.

With Davies now willing to listen to other offers, negotiations with the Bundesliga giants could end up falling through completely if a better proposal is not tabled.

As such, all scenarios are now open, but Davies refusing Bayern Munich’s latest contract proposal will be seen as a major win at Real Madrid as it would get the player one step closer to the Bernabeu.
