Transfer News: Chelsea target Paulo Dybala is closing in on a move to Inter Milan

According to Football.London, Chelsea target Paulo Dybala who is set to leave Juventus on a free transfer in the summer is closing in on a move to Serie A rivals Inter Milan.

The former Palermo man joined Juventus in 2015 and after seven successful years in Turin, the 28-year-old is set to move away from the Old Lady on a free at the end of his contract. A star in his own right, Dybala has been a great servant to Juventus.

Playing 39 times for the Old Lady this season, Dybala has scored 15 goals and provided a further six assists across all competitions in what has been a tough season for Juventus. No longer the dominant force they once were, the Turin giants could be looking at a major rebuild ahead of the summer transfer window.

Transfer News: Paulo Dybala closing in on Inter Milan move

The Blues had been credited with an interest in Paulo Dybala for quite some time now and had even opened talking with the 28-year-old prior to the sanctions. Unfortunately for Chelsea, the talented Argentinian is said to be very close to completing a switch to the Giuseppe Meazza.

Opportunity missed?

It is no secret that Chelsea who were high flying at that time have lost a lot since the restrictions were placed on them following Roman Abramovich’s sanctions. Whether it will eventually come to bite us in the pursuit of Dybala remains to be seen.

The 28-year-old could just be one more player the Blues have missed out on due to the inability to hold transfer talks with any player. The forward would have thrived in a Thomas Tuchel team and his versatility would have been key to the German manager’s ideas.

Chelsea are keeping tabs on Paulo Dybala

The 28-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across the forward line and even as an attacking midfielder and such a player would have been perfect for us. Unfortunately, that is not to be the case, with the Argentinian preferring to move elsewhere.

Whilst it’s still not over and you never say never in football, a move for Dybala just seems like a missed opportunity for the Blues. It feels like a story of what could have been and let’s hope Chelsea do not rue the fact that they missed out on him.
