The January transfer window is now open, meaning Blackburn Rovers could be entering a decisive few weeks of their season.

Currently sitting third in the Championship table, the Lancashire club must ensure they strengthen their squad while the market is open, to keep themselves in the race for promotion to the Premier League.

As a result, there is likely to be plenty of speculation around Ewood Park over course of the month, with the futures of a number of individuals up in the air, and potential signings to be targeted.

So with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at the latest transfer news emerging around Blackburn in the early days of the window, right here.

One player it seems Blackburn are keen to bring to Ewood Park this month, is Crystal Palace winger Malcolm Ebiowei.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Rovers are keen to sign the 19-year-old on loan, as Rovers look to bolster their options on the right of their attack while working on a budget.

However, they are not alone with that interest, with fellow Championship sides Hull, Swansea and QPR all also being credited with an interest in the exciting teenager.

This though, is a move where Rovers may find themselves being left disappointed, with Hull head coach Liam Rosenior – who previously worked with Ebiowei at Derby – and vice chairman Tan Kesler, both claiming they are hopeful that a deal to bring the winger to the MKM Stadium will soon be completed.

One player who looks as though he will be on his way out of Ewood Park during the January transfer window, is George Hirst.

The striker joined on loan from Leicester with the option to buy back in the summer window, but has struggled to make an impact for Tomasson’s side, making just 11 appearances and failing to score, having missed a stoppage time penalty in the 1-0 defeat at Cardiff back in October.

As a result, reports from The Lancashire Telegraph have now suggested that the 23-year-old will be recalled from his loan spell by his parent club this month, with a view to being loaned out elsewhere.

With Sam Szmodics and Tyrhys Dolan both currently injured, interest in Ben Brereton-Diaz almost certain to re-ermerge, and Rovers having apparently missed out on another attacking signing late in the summer window, that will likely further add to their need to source additional firepower while the current market is open.
