Victor Adeboyejo’s future at Bolton Wanderers is uncertain going into the final week of the transfer window amid interest from Oxford United and Goztepe.

According to Pete O’Rourke, the forward is attracting interest with just a few days remaining in the market.

Adeboyejo has been a key player under Ian Evatt since joining the Whites in January 2023.

The 26-year-old has made 53 league appearances for Bolton during his time at the club, contributing 14 goals (all stats from Fbref).

Victor Adeboyejo transfer verdict

FLW’s Bolton fan pundit Oliver Jacques believes that the club should avoid selling Adeboyejo before the end of the window.

He has claimed it could cost up to £1.5 million to convince the League One club to cash in on the striker.

“It entirely depends on whether we can replace him before 30 August with not just a striker, but a like-for-life striker,” Jacques told Football League World.

“Someone who is physical, a bit of pace, bit of a fox in the box.

“He offers us something different to the strikers we currently have.

“If it was just a straight 'yes or no, would you cash in?' It’d be a no.

“I think we’ve built a good squad, and he’s not somebody we should be looking to let go.

“There are strikers further down the pecking order, such as [Dan] Nlundulu and Carlos Mendes Gomes, so I wouldn’t look at cashing in.

“The way our club is run, Evatt and the board always say that every player’s got a value.

“It’s our value, not the market value as well, so I can’t imagine they’d be willing to let him go for anything less than £1 million, that may be low as well, could be more towards £1.5 million.

“In a nutshell, I wouldn't be looking to let him go.”

Bolton’s start to the League One season

Bolton will be aiming to compete for promotion to the Championship this season, having lost the play-off final last year.

Evatt’s side finished third in the table, but lost out to Oxford on a place back in the second division.

The Whites have won one and drawn one from their opening two games, earning victory over Leyton Orient before drawing against newly-promoted Wrexham.

Next up for Bolton is a trip to face Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon in a 3pm kick-off.

Adeboyejo will be key to promotion push

Bolton will want to be well compensated to consider selling Adeboyejo this summer, especially so late in the window.

His goals could prove crucial to getting over the line in their pursuit of promotion.

It will be a stiff battle for a top two spot in League One this year, so Bolton will need players of Adeboyejo’s quality to fight against the division’s top teams.

A deal around the £1.5 million mark would be decent money, but they are also running out of time to reinvest that into replacing the forward, which will also need to be considered if a bid of that size comes in.
