Ecuador lost 2-1 to Venezuela in their first group match at the Copa América, with Willian Pacho playing the duration. His defensive colleague Robin Koch is in EURO action in Frankfurt tonight.

Mixed emotions for Eintracht Frankfurt’s first-choice centre-backs. While Robin Koch and Germany are already into the UEFA EURO 2024 round of 16 after two matchdays and can secure top spot in the group with a point against Switzerland at Deutsche Bank Park on Sunday night, Willian Pacho was on the end of a 2-1 defeat by Venezuela at the start of the Copa América.

With Pacho starting, Ecuador went a man down early on in Santa Clara as Enner Valencia was shown a red card in the 22nd minute, although they did lead at half-time through Jeremy Sarmiento’s strike. However, Venezuela turned it around in the second period, enjoying much more of the game, creating the majority of the chances and ultimately running out 2-1 winners. Ecuador resume on Thursday against Jamaica, who lost 1-0 to Mexico in their opening match.
