Roma legend Francesco Totti surprisingly claims the Giallorossi should not rule out Paulo Dybala’s exit as the Argentinean ‘plays 15 games a year.’
Totti spoke to Il Corriere dello Sport during an event in Rome on Monday night and said the Giallorossi should consider Dybala’s exit in the summer.
“We are talking about a top player, but we need to understand what the club want to do in the future and their targets for next season,” said the legendary Roma and Italy striker.
“If I were a director, I’d think about a footballer who plays 15 games in a year. If I have an important target and one of my best players is available for a third of the games, I must make my assessments.”
As Il Corriere dello Sport highlighted, Totti has changed his stance on Dybala. In January, he had claimed that the Giallorossi should have kept the Argentinean at all costs.
The Argentinean striker has scored 14 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions this season, providing seven assists. However, he has also missed 13 matches due to physical problems, including Sunday’s 1-0 win over strugglers Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico.
Dybala’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico runs out in June 2025. He has a 13m clause included in his contract, which can be triggered by any foreign club. The release clause for Serie A sides is set at €20m, but Roma can cancel it by offering the striker a pay rise.
