Real Betis have completed the signing of Giovanni Lo Celso from Tottenham for a fee of around €4m.

It’s been reported that part of the deal will allow Spurs first refusal on any offer of €30m or more for target Johnny Cardoso.

Lo Celso joined Spurs from Betis in 2019, and has since had two loan spells with Villarreal in a bid to get himself some playing time.

Ange Postecoglu recently confirmed that Lo Celso – along with Serge Regulion – wasn’t in his first-team plans.

“It’s their decisions.” said the boss. “It’s pretty clear where they sit in terms of where we are as a squad and where we are as a team, but, you know, I’ve never been one to force people out.

“They’ve got decisions about their own careers and what they want to do, and if they’re still here, they’re still here. We’ll work around that scenario, but it certainly won’t affect the way we work in the first team.”

Betis are thought to have beaten off competition from Aston Villa to capture the World Cup winner’s signature.
