Jordan Hackett to sign for Newcastle after being released from Tottenham

According to Chronicle Live, Tottenham youngster, Jordan Hackett will sign for Newcastle United after being released by Spurs. The left-back will leave the North London club as the Lilywhites shake up their academy.

On trial with the Magpies’ under-23 side back in May, the 18-year-old impressed the Geordies who are now set to sign the English youngster. It offers him another shot at the big time.

Hackett has been in and around Tottenham’s under-18 side since 2019 and has made 34 appearances for the youth team in his time there. The 18-year-old has also represented the England under-16 side and earned a call-up to the national team’s under-18 side.

Spurs are set to release 12 youngsters this summer in an apparent overhaul of the youth setup. What this means for the club is yet to be seen as Antonio Conte stamps his authority at the North London side.

Fans might look at the development and be worried about the Lilywhites’ future plans for the academy. A club’s future is in bringing up and developing youngsters. Harry Kane is a perfect example of how investing in the youth is beneficial for a team.

With the backing the Italian manager has been getting till now this summer, it isn’t surprising to see Tottenham making the tough calls this transfer window. Fans believe there seems to be a shift in the club’s culture.

Hackett might be a young and exciting prospect but the move is best for the youngster’s overall development. At Newcastle currently, the player might get a better opportunity to get into the Geordies squad and train alongside the first team.
