Tottenham are working on completing a deal for Barcelona defender Clément Lenglet.

The player has not yet agreed to the move, but it is increasingly likely that he will, according to Relevo. At the end of the week, there will be a key meeting between the parties.

Spurs and Barcelona have been in talks for weeks over a loan deal for Lenglet, who is not part of Xavi Hernández’s plans for next season. Barça hope Spurs can convince the 27-year-old to move to north London.

Tottenham are reportedly prepared to pay a large part of Lenglet’s salary if the deal goes through.

Fellow Barcelona defenders Samuel Umtiti and Óscar Mingueza have also been told they are not in the club’s plans for next season. The Camp Nou side have already agreed to sign defender Andreas Christensen on a free transfer this summer.

The Denmark international wrote a letter to Chelsea and the club’s fans yesterday after a decade of service at Stamford Bridge.
