Tottenham are showing keen interest in signing Real Sociedad attacking midfielder Brais Mendez, according to a report from Sport.
The 26-year-old has been enjoying a brilliant campaign once again, and Spurs could make a move in the January transfer window.
Mendez joined Real Sociedad from Celta Vigo in 2022 for around £12m and has become a key player for the club. After an impressive season, his value rose to £26m.
But Spurs and other interested clubs will have to pay a fee of around £52m, his release clause.
He has a contract at the La Liga club until 2028, but his excellent form has alerted several top clubs worldwide.
Mendez has impressed in the league and the Champions League, and Sociedad are under no pressure to sell him.
Mendez has been in outstanding form this season, bagging five goals and four assists in all competitions.
Spurs must show ambition in the market and make one or two top signings to give themselves a genuine chance to challenge for the top four or the Premier League title.
Ange Postecoglou has done remarkable work this season, and Spurs have exceeded all expectations as they are top in the Premier League after ten games.
Adding a quality attacking midfielder could be a priority for Spurs, and they have been linked with a move for former Celtic star Jota – a player Postecoglou knows very well.
Mendez could be a superb signing for the club, but it won’t be easy to prise him away.
