Tottenham Hotspur host Bournemouth in the Premier League this afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou’s side crashed to their 18th defeat of the season in all competitions at AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night. The 1-0 loss in the Netherlands leaves Spurs with an uphill task to progress into the Europa League quarter-finals, ahead of the second leg next week.

Europe remains Spurs’ last chance of silverware and likeliest route to European qualification for next season. As such, Postecoglou’s selection this weekend could impacted by Thursday’s second leg in North London.

Bournemouth arrive in the capital in good mood. The Cherries progressed into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup last weekend with a penalty shootout win against Wolves.

Currently ninth in the Premier League table, a win will lift Andoni Iraola’s side within a point of fourth-placed Manchester City as things stand. Bournemouth are targeting their highest-ever league finish this season and beat Spurs in the reverse fixture.

Tottenham team news

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven returned to the Spurs squad on Thursday but did not feature at AZ Alkmaar. The condition of the Dutch side’s pitch was behind the decision not to risk the defensive duo after injury-hit campaigns. Both could return this weekend, as Postecoglou looks to get minutes into the key pair before Thursday’s second leg with AZ.

Dominic Solanke limped off at AZ, having come on as a substitute. Making his first appearance since January, Solanke was subbed after sustaining a knock. It’s not understood to be serious, though it’s unlikely the club-record signing will be risked against his former team.

Ben Davies could return to the squad in another boost but Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Radu Dragusin remain out.

Tottenham Predicted Lineup

Tottenham predicted XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison; Johnson, Son, Tel.
