Tottenham and Leicester City “turned down” move to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia before his Napoli transfer

Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City apparently “turned down” a move to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer before his move to Napoli was confirmed, as per Football.London.

The Georgia international is playing some of his best football with the Naples outfit and has scored 14 times and provided six in 22 games across all competitions for his new club so far. Spurs may well be ruing this missed opportunity if their interest in Kvaratskhelia was ever real.

The English audience was more formally introduced to the 21-year-old’s capabilities when he tore Joe Gomez to shreds in Napoli’s 4-1 UEFA Champions League group stage win against Liverpool at home.

He joined Dinamo Batumi from Rubin Kazan earlier this year before he joined Napoli in the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £9million. The Georgian’s ability on the ball and his contribution in the final third makes him a big asset for any team to have.

It’s not wrong to assume that other European superclubs will be taking notice of the new kid on the block in Naples. Spurs did sign players this summer – a lot of them, in fact.

Richarlison has proven to be a very smart signing from Everton. Ivan Perisic is another player that has strengthened our creative department, while Yves Bissouma has added steel to our midfield.

Having Khvicha in the team with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Lucas Moura may have given manager Antonio Conte an added selection headache.

Although in Khvicha’s case, that would have been a headache he probably wouldn’t have minded. However, it is safe to say that the Italian manager would have perhaps then struggled to keep everyone happy with their playing time.

Mind you, this is without the inclusion of Bryan Gil on the list – a player Spurs fans are waiting for to explode onto the scene.
