Tottenham Hotspur have been watching Sam Johnstone ahead of making a potential move in January, according to Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge.
Spurs have set their sights on signing the England international goalkeeper, who is currently on West Bromwich Albion's books.
Premier League clubs have been circling for Johnstone since West Brom suffered relegation to the Championship last season.
The 6 ft 4 shot-stopper was heavily linked with a summer move to West Ham United, but Albion rejected a bid worth £10million as they were hoping to secure double that sum.
A switch to the London Stadium proved to be out of the question before the deadline passed as the Hammers opted to turn their attentions towards Alphonse Areola, who joined on a season-long loan deal which has the option of being made permanent.
Despite that, West Brom head coach Valerien Ismael initially conceded he expected Johnstone to secure a switch away from the Hawthorns during the window.
But, with him still at the club, the Baggies have entered talks over a new deal as the 28-year-old's current contract has less than 12 months to run.
West Ham remain interested in Johnstone, but Southampton have also joined Spurs in pursuit of the goalkeeper while his future is uncertain.
Bridge has confirmed Johnstone is on Spurs' radar, with him being watched closely while plying his trade at West Brom.
The Sky Sports journalist reckons welcoming the shot-stopper to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could prove to be a shrewd signing.
Bridge also believes the fact Johnstone is an England international, with three caps to his name, is an added bonus.
He told GIVEMESPORT: "If Spurs are looking at Sam Johnstone, I'm sure that's a sensible option.
"I think Spurs have been watching him. He is homegrown, which is good."
There are doubts over first-choice custodian Hugo Lloris' future in north London as he has entered the final nine months of his £100,000-per-week contract.

The 34-year-old, who could open contract discussions with overseas clubs in January, has publicly claimed he is relaxed about the situation despite uncertainty over his future.
Pierluigi Gollini, who joined from Serie A side Atalanta in a loan switch which has the option of being made permanent next summer, is the only other goalkeeper on Spurs' books heading into the January transfer window.
