Tottenham are already looking at potential strikers to sign next summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

What did Romano say about Tottenham's search for strikers?

Spurs were busy in the recent transfer window, bringing in Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta, while also signing Spanish-based players Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal. However, they did not add any centre-forwards to their squad.

Romano has claimed that the club's managing director Fabio Paratici is already preparing to rectify that in 2022.

The transfer insider told The Here We Go Podcast“They are already looking at potential strikers for summer 2022. Because, this summer they had the chance of signing some striker as back-up for Harry Kane, but they were not convinced about the players so they decided to save money and invest next summer on the right player. This is Paratici’s style and mentality.”

Do Tottenham really need a striker?

The north London club did manage to keep hold of Harry Kane this summer, so they still have one of the best strikers in world football on their books.

However, they have struggled up top so far this season, netting just three goals in their opening four league matches. They looked particularly hapless in the final third on Saturday when they were beaten 3-0 by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Right now, there is a lot of pressure on Kane to deliver the goods every game, but the first few weeks of the season have suggested that he could do with some help from a strike partner, or have someone who can act as a solid back-up option and make an impact off the bench.

Who could Tottenham look to sign?

Tottenham were linked with Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez and Fiorentina youngster Dusan Vlahovic during the summer. If the pair enjoy strong seasons at their respective clubs this year, Paratici may look to use his Serie A connections to get a deal across the line for one of these players.

Did Tottenham Hotspur sign Moussa Sissoko on transfer deadline day in 2016?

Yes No

The Italian may also have his eye on a couple of talented Premier League attackers. Anthony Martial appears to have lost his place in Manchester United's starting XI this term, and if he continues to struggle for game time, Spurs may try to tempt him away from Old Trafford.

Then there is Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins. The 25-year-old had a promising first year in England's top-flight last season, registering 14 league goals, and if he can back that up with another solid campaign in the Midlands, Spurs could sense an opportunity to bring him in to support Kane.
