Tottenham are keeping “tight-lipped” about Hugo Lloris‘ injury, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay.

The £100,000 per-week star has played every minute in all competitions this season but is facing a race against time to be fit for the north London derby following a recent setback.

What happened to Lloris?

The 35-year-old played 90 minutes against Leicester before the international break and made some crucial saves, which allowed Spurs to run out 6-2 winners.

Lloris then headed off for international duty with France, hoping to add to his 139 caps.

But less than 48 hours after turning out for Tottenham, Lloris withdrew from Didier Deschamps’ squad for games against Austria and Denmark after sustaining a thigh problem.

As a result, Lloris is now doubtful for the trip to Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime, putting his recent run of consecutive Premier League starts under threat.

Lloris has played every top-flight minute in the last two-and-a-half years, last missing a game in March 2020.

What did Barclay say about Lloris?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m still trying to find out the details on how likely he is to [be fit against Arsenal] after missing the France games.

“Tottenham have been tight-lipped about it generally, that’s what they do with injuries unless it’s like a player is set for surgery, so I’m still waiting to find out.”

Who would replace Lloris?

With Lloris playing every minute in the last 93 Premier League matches, changing goalkeeper isn’t something Tottenham have even had to consider in recent years.

But his recent setback will no doubt leave Antonio Conte sweating on his fitness over the break.

That’s because not only is Lloris Spurs’ number one goalkeeper, but he’s also captain of the club and has played in more north London derbies than anyone else in the squad.

If Lloris isn’t passed fit, it’ll open the door for Fraser Forster to make his Tottenham debut having been an unused substitute in all nine games this season.

Forster might have never played in this fixture, but he’s experienced at this level, racking up more than 130 appearances in England’s top-flight and has history against Arsenal, notably producing a man of the match display while playing for Southampton back in April.

And that 1-0 victory for the Saints ultimately proved crucial in helping his current club qualify for the Champions League.
