Tottenham Hotspur are ready to begin talks for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson and are hopeful of completing a deal this week.
That’s according to the Telegraph, who report on Sunday that the £50m-rated Wales international is viewed as a serious target for Spurs in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Johnson has reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa and Brentford this summer, but Spurs – who are still in the market for attacking reinforcements following Harry Kane’s departure – appear to now have the most concrete interest in the 22-year-old.
The north London club are understood to be hoping that a bid in the region of £40m plus guaranteed instalments will be enough, with it being suggested that unwanted players like Bryan Gil or Davinson Sánchez could be offered to Forest as part of the deal.
Johnson scored eight goals and registered three assists as Forest survived relegation from the Premier League last season and has been with the club since joining the academy as an eight-year-old.
