Tottenham Hotspur completed one of the "best signings" they could've made in the January transfer window by bringing Pedro Porro to Hotspur Way, transfer insider Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT.

Porro secured his long-awaited move to Spurs on deadline day and Jones is tipping the Spaniard to be an instant success in north London.

Porro will initially join on a six-month loan deal, with Spurs paying the Portuguese giants a £5 million loan fee.

That move will become permanent in the summer, as Tottenham are set to pay another £39 million for the right-wing back, eventually taking the total fee to the reported £44 million.

It comes after weeks of back and forth between Spurs and Sporting, with the north Londoners originally unwilling to match Porro's release clause, as per reports.

Sporting boss Ruben Amorim had supposedly made it clear to the board that Porro was unable to leave the club, unless the release clause was matched.

There had been murmurings that big-spenders Chelsea could look to hijack the move, with journalist Simon Phillips telling GMS in January that Porro was on the Blues' radar.

Instead, Porro ended up at Hotspur Way, with suggestions the 23-year-old could go on to transform Tottenham's stuttering campaign.

What has Dean Jones said about Porro joining Spurs?

Once on the books of Manchester City, Porro is widely considered as one of the most promising full-backs in the game.

Speaking in an interview with GMS, Jones reiterated that standpoint, while also praising Spurs for getting this deal over the line.

On Porro to Spurs, Jones claimed: "He’ll totally transform the way that they play down that side.

"I’ve spoken to people that have seen much more of him than I have and they are absolutely convinced that this is one of the best signings that Tottenham could have made in this window.

"Particularly given the way that Conte sets up and likes to play, with the importance that he puts on that role.”

Will Porro prove a worthwhile signing for Spurs?

Porro, who is reportedly set to earn £85,000 per week at Spurs, has already established himself as one of Europe's most creative wing-backs.

In his 26 appearances for Sporting this season, Porro notched up an impressive 14 goal contributions (Transfermarkt).

Such was his importance to Sporting's attack, Porro contributed to 24 per cent of Sporting's goals in the Portuguese league this season, before leaving Lisbon to join Spurs.

Now, having completed his big-money move, Porro will be keen to impress in the white of Tottenham, starting with a clash against former employers City on Sunday afternoon.
