Premier League side Tottenham will make contact with Julian Nagelsmann as he prepares to leave Bayern Munich, according to reports.

Widespread reports indicate the German will be officially sacked by Bayern Munich on Friday with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel set to replace him.

Their 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend saw Borussia Dortmund overtake Bayern into first position in the Bundesliga as Edin Terzic’s side beat Koln 6-1 on Saturday.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano highlighted ‘internal issues’ as part of the reason for Nagelsmann’s imminent departure. His deal ‘was due to expire in June 2026 but he will leave with immediate effect’.

Romano also confirmed that Tottenham were one of the clubs interested in Tuchel with Antonio Conte set to leave Spurs in the near future.

Conte hit out at his “selfish” players after they threw away a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 against Southampton last weekend with the Italian also critical of the Tottenham board for the culture around the club.

The Tottenham boss said: “What we’re seeing in these last matches, I don’t like it. I’m not used to seeing this. I see a lot of selfish players. I don’t see a team.

“Frustration is not for today. It’s right to tell the truth and keep our eyes open – the truth is we have to give satisfaction to our fans and we are not doing this – we all have to take responsibility.

“It’s happened before with other coaches. Maybe if we start to think the players have to take responsibility it’s the right moment, otherwise, we’re out of Europe.

“From what I’m seeing to talk about the Champions League is useless because at this moment we’re not a team. We don’t have spirit, we’re not putting heart into the pitch for the badge or the sense of belonging.

“If we don’t have this we will finish the season really badly. It was a clear problem today but it’s the end of a cycle of bad results. The fans deserve much better than this team.”

Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi and Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou are among the managers to have been linked with Conte’s job and now Football Insider claim Tottenham ‘will make contact with’ Nagelsmann ‘in a sensational twist to their next manager pursuit’.

The report adds that his imminent departure from Bayern Munich ‘has opened the door for Spurs to move for Nagelsmann in a surprise turnaround that adds a new layer of intrigue to their plans to replace Antonio Conte’.

Tottenham are still ‘locked in talks with Conte’s camp this week over the terms of his departure and the pay-off he will receive for the three months remaining on his contract’.

Football Insider

‘Tottenham are discussing with Conte a mutual severance in which he receives a significant portion of the £4million he is due to earn for the remainder of his contract. ‘It would mean the terms of the Italian’s departure would not be classified by the club as a sacking, even though his position is no longer seen as tenable following his criticism of the Spurs players he condemned as “selfish”.’
