With Harry Kane out injured and Christian Eriksen looking likely to leave, the Argentinian could find himself playing an important role as the season goes on.

Lo Celso is currently on a season long loan with Spurs paying £15m for the midfielder’s services.

According to Marca (h/t Daily Mail) , Spurs have an agreement with his Real Betis to make his move permanent this month for £27million or wait until the summer and pay £34m.

The Argentinian has also had rough luck with injuries ,which has seen him miss a number of games for Tottenham.

Eriksen’s successor?

With Christian Eriksen likely to leave  for Inter Milan, Lo Celso could take up his mantle for the rest of the season. If he impresses, he will make Mourinho’s rebuild a whole lot easier.

The mandatory clause to purchase Lo Celso in the summer is binding only if Tottenham qualify for the Champions League. Even then, Spurs will only be getting 80% of the player’s rights with Betis retaining 20%.
