Manchester City’s stance on a potential sale of Brazilian forward Savinho has been revealed by several reports as Tottenham conduct talks over a swoop for the winger.

Tottenham have registered their interest in the 21-year-old attacker, who joined Manchester City from CFG-owned club Troyes last summer and impressed in his first season in England despite a disappointing third-place Premier League finish for the Blues.

City added Omar Marmoush to their attack in January, with Rayan Cherki also signed for £34 million in June as sporting director Hugo Viana conducts a significant revamp of Guardiola’s squad ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

After parting ways with Kevin De Bruyne, Scott Carson and Kyle Walker already in this window, Manchester City bosses have been told by Guardiola that further departures need to happen before the September 1 transfer deadline.

Viana has been tasked with streamlining Manchester City’s bloated first-team squad, which is highly likely to witness the exit(s) of Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips and James McAtee before the window closes.

Trimming the wage bill remains high on the priority list for the Manchester City board, who have agreed a long-term contract renewal with Ruben Dias and will step up negotiations to tie Rodri and Phil Foden down to fresh, lucrative terms.

Manchester City face Wolves in their opening Premier League fixture of the 2025-26 campaign this week, with each of McAtee, Grealish and Phillips expected to remain out of the travelling squad to the Molineux Stadium after being excluded from the group that journeyed to Italy for Saturday’s 3-0 friendly win over Palermo.

As City prepare for the curtain-raiser meeting with Wolves, Tottenham are in negotiations with Etihad Stadium bosses over a deal for Savinho, who is open to joining forces with Thomas Frank in north London after just one season in the north-west.

The Athletic have reported that while Manchester City are not actively pursuing a sale for Savinho, the Brazil international is open to the move and initial conversations have occurred with Tottenham over a deal worth €50 million.

Sources close to the Etihad Stadium have doubled down Manchester City’s stance, with Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News adding that the Blues will be looking for a fee north of £50 million for the winger.

Mail Sport’s Jack Gaughan has maintained that Manchester City do not wish to sell Savinho but talks are ongoing with the north Londoners, who finished in 17th place in the recent Premier League campaign and are looking to replace club legend Son Heung-Min after his departure to the United States.

It remains to be seen whether Savinho makes the cut for Manchester City’s matchday squad against Wolves this week, with Guardiola surely in line to be asked about the Brazilian’s future when he faces the press in the coming days to preview the trip to the Molineux Stadium.
