Transfer News: Tottenham receive a blow in pursuit of Manuel Locatelli

According to transfer news from Express, Tottenham have been handed a bit of a blow in their pursuit of Manuel Locatelli. The Italian star was linked to Spurs after his displays in the Euros but he is said to prefer a move to Juventus.

If the opening week of the Euros were anything to go by, fans have found a new star in Manuel Locatelli. The Italian had been dominant in both the wins over Turkey and Switzerland, scoring twice against the latter. The second goal was perhaps one to keep watching on repeat.

However, one should not be surprised as the 23-year-old showed glimpses of his potential over the last season in Serie A. Playing in a box-to-box role, Locatelli has been one of the standout players for the Azzurri. He remained an unused substitute as Italy wrapped up the group stage with a win over Wales.

After being linked to Spurs and some more clubs, it seems that the north London giants have received a setback. The 23-year-old is said to prefer a move to Italian giants Juventus over any other club. Sassuolo have slapped a £34m price tag on him, which is understandable given the performances he has delivered.

  2. Erik ten Hag had an interest in the Tottenham job but no approach was made
  3. Fabio Paratici makes contact to sign Manuel Locatelli at Tottenham

While it does represent a blow for Spurs and club’s sporting director Fabio Paratici, they can only wait and see how this situation develops. Locatelli is justified in choosing to remain in Italy and join a side like Juve.

The Italian would have been a good addition to the Spurs midfield. However, one can only hope Paratici can use his expertise and contacts to pull something off.
