Tottenham ‘prepare’ swap deal for Chelsea, West Ham target as £50m PL star ‘prefers’ Spurs move

Tottenham are lining up a move for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson amid interest from other Premier League clubs, according to reports.

Spurs are still looking at ways to replace Harry Kane’s 30 Premier League goals from last season after the England international left north London for Bayern Munich earlier this month.

Ange Postecoglou is yet to bring in a direct replacement for Kane and there have been rumours they might not buy another striker in this window with suggestions that ‘the Kane money has already been invested’.

However, the Premier League club are looking to strengthen in forward areas in general with the Daily Mail insisting that ‘preparing to launch their bid’ for Nottingham Forest’s Johnson.

Forest value the Wales international at around £50m and have already turned down a bid of £35m from fellow Premier League side Brentford this summer.

The report adds that West Ham and Chelsea have ‘also been considering bids’ for the Forest academy graduate but that ‘his preference should he go is understood to be Tottenham’.

The Daily Mail continue:

‘They are readying an offer which could yet include players as Forest are struggling to land all of their targets. ‘Centre back Davinson Sanchez is one possibility though there are a number of other fringe players Tottenham are willing to trade if they can fit into Forest’s wage structure.

‘Tottenham want an extra goal threat following the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich. They want pace too and believe Johnson has the right profile of being able to fit their system and play across the front line. ‘Johnson is understood to prefer Tottenham as he believes he will have a greater chance of playing regularly and establishing himself.’

Another attacking player to leave this summer was Lucas Moura, who joined Sao Paulo, and the Brazilian has opened up on a “difficult year” for him at Spurs.

“Well, it was actually a very complicated year. Particularly speaking, it was a difficult year for me, where I had few opportunities. And I ended up being out of some games because of an injury I had. And also in the collective, the team was not very good,” Moura told ESPN Brasil.

“The team didn’t do very well. We failed to achieve the goals we had at the beginning of the season. We failed to qualify for any European competition. And it wasn’t the way I wanted my time at Tottenham to end. A club for which I have a huge affection, where I lived incredible experiences.

“But unfortunately this last year I haven’t been able to play much. What is part of… which happens in the lives of many players. But that’s it. Everything I lived there, everything I went through there, I am very grateful. I have a huge affection for all employees, now is a new stage of my life.”
